AZRA is a small, specialty niche reinsurer, domiciled in California and licensed as an admitted insurer in 36 states (including District of Columbia) and is a qualified, accredited or approved reinsurer in fifteen states. AZRA’s business focus is legacy reinsurance and run-off management of U.S. legacy insurance liabilities for Allianz Group affiliates and third parties including third party claims administration and reinsurance of asbestos & environmental, workers compensation, general liability and excess and construction defect liabilities as well as prospective reinsurance for strategic transactions. AZRA has approximately 150 employees located nationwide with the majority working on a remote basis. AZRA is rated “AA-“ by Standard & Poor’s. As of December 31, 2021 AZRA had total admitted assets of USD $2.4 billion and policyholders’ surplus of $295 million.
Allianz Resolution Management® professionally manages the US legacy insurance portfolios for Allianz Group. The Group’s legacy liabilities total several billion dollars covering asbestos, pollution, workers’ compensation, and construction defect exposures. It is our role to manage these complex long tailed exposures and generate the best outcome possible. We are part of a global team with exceptional claims and technical expertise and we work in an active and entrepreneurial fashion.
What you do:
Manage a caseload of asbestos accounts.
Timely claim management of new loss assignments and reassignment.
Work with the Department Director and/or Technical Director to develop an account strategy and manage mass tort litigation.
Evaluate asbestos cases for settlement.
Provide defense counsel and vendor oversight based upon an agreed litigation strategy.
Understand coverage issues and make coverage recommendations.
This position will report to the Director of Asbestos Claims.
What you bring:
This position may require some national travel.
The ideal candidate will be an analytical thinker, detail oriented and highly self-motivated with an interest in learning a complex claim type.
Technical backgrounds and/or contract review experience a plus.
Strategic thinkers who are comfortable providing guidance, input and oversight to defense counsel desired.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Work experience in a highly regulated environment a plus, ability to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures necessary.
Strong communication skills desired.
College degree.
