Starting wage rate: $16.66 / hour
Night shift wage rate is $16.91 / hour

Allied Universal® is hiring a Nuclear Firewatch Officer. The Firewatch Officer is responsible for assigned tours to inspect for fires and monitor room checks as directed by on-site Fire Protection Department. They will maintain fire watch and observe and report fire hazards and/or working fires in accordance with post orders. The Firewatch Officer will ensure all required paperwork is accurate and complete, and will perform other duties and support, as needed. This position will ensure all duties are carried out with safety as the number one priority and will foster and model a healthy Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain fire watch
- Control and extinguish fires
- Reduce or eliminate potential fire hazards
- Ensure all paperwork is accurate and complete
- Assist local emergency personnel as required
- Observe and report fire hazards and potential fire risks as they occur
- Maintain all requirements for site access
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain all necessary state or federal licensing requirements
- If previously employed, verifiable positive work history
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Active listening skills
- Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
- Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
- Attention to detail
- Be at least 18 years old or minimum age required by your State
- Be able to work scheduled twelve-hour shifts
- Be able to operate a radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors and surveillance equipment
- Demonstrate an ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
- Complete the following, post-offer in accordance with the code of federal regulations for armed nuclear security assignment (10CFR, Appendix B):
- MMPI – Psychological testing
- Physical Exams, including vision and hearing, in accordance with nuclear regulatory requirements and site training and qualification plan
- Nuclear site-specific training and testing providing general knowledge of nuclear power generation science and principles, plant rules and regulations, communications, and access. In addition, this training and testing will include radiation worker principles including respirator training, fit and dress out.
