SUMMARY: 

  1. To develop flavors that satisfy customer needs by utilizing appropriate raw materials and following proper current regulations of the industry and customer restrictions for the ultimate purpose of increasing sales.  
  2. Manage successful completion of commercial and proactive creative projects.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Develop commercially successful flavors as outlined by an approved technical project using GRAS and FDA approved ingredients. Collaborate closely with application and consumer insights teams to create innovative and consumer preferred flavor profiles.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to use/apply basic and specialty chemicals in the successful development of flavors.
  3. Work with Key Account customers while supporting sales and marketing to ensure the successful development of new flavor business.
  4. Revise flavors to meet the ever-changing regulations of the flavor industry.
  5. Revise existing flavors to meet the profile, impact and functional needs of our clients.
  6. Prospect new flavor raw materials and technologies and provide evaluation, validation, and adoption when necessary.
  7. Regularly communicate and collaborate with colleagues in Grasse and other Robertet sites on global projects, and technology sharing.
  8. Support QC and Operations in scaling up new formulations, and trouble-shooting potential quality issues. 

Other Functions:

  1. Establish correct titles for newly developed flavors consistent with local regulations and requirements.
  2. Assume project leadership role for short and long-term projects.\
  3. Occasionally travel locally and to other customer locations for presentations and evaluation sessions.
  4. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  5. Represent Robertet at industry events and associations.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required: 

  1. A strong technical background is required with a minimum of a B.S. degree
  2. A strong knowledge of basic flavor systems and how flavors are applied

Preferred: 

  1. Well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills
  2. SFC certification
  3. Five years minimum independent flavor development/formulation experience with knowledge of U.S. and international flavor regulations is required.
  4. A basic understanding of citrus ingredients, essential oils, botanical extracts, and specialty aromatic ingredients and their use in flavor development.

  1. Having a base knowledge of organic chemistry and principles of food science.
  2. Knowledge of safe lab practices
  3. Interpersonal skills including time management and presentation skills
  4. Cross functional team player
  5. Computer software proficiency particularly office spreadsheet, presentation, and data base
