Job Description:
Allstate Investments manages approximately $66 billion of assets. This candidate will conduct fundamental financial and macro analysis of issuers and industries within the municipal bond market. The analyst will develop investment themes and provide recommendations to the Portfolio Managers (PM). Our process is very team-oriented, with the analysts interacting with each other and the portfolio managers on a continual basis. As such, the ability to work well in a team setting is critical. The ultimate goal of the research and recommendations is to help the portfolios deliver the best possible results for our clients. The hiring team is looking for a candidate to work out of their Chicago downtown office, hybrid style.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Allstate’s Municipal fixed income research efforts
- Perform issuer & sector related outlooks and translate them into investment recommendations
- Analyze economic & political data to assess impacts to both the market and Allstate’s portfolio and proactively communicate those within the organization
- Collaborate with the investment team to further develop quantitative, research & trading tools
- Continually improve investment processes by exploring new ideas, methods & technologies
- Contribute to the development and training of junior analysts
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year university
- A degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or other business-related discipline is preferred but not required
- 6 years of municipal research experience with knowledge of multiple sectors including healthcare, transportation, higher education, and housing
- Knowledge of investment systems such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, and the Investortools/Creditscope platform are a plus
- Progress towards a CFA designation preferred
Functional Skills:
- Good understanding of capital markets and an intellectual curiosity as it relates to quantitative methods, finance, economics, and market cycles
- Ability to perform tasks and achieve results independently and as part of a team, consistently meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple assignments effectively in a dynamic work environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across a wide variety of constituents
