Part-Time Mental Health Rehab Worker
Shift available:12 hour day shift- 10am- 10pm, Saturday/Sunday (every other weekend)!
As a Partner in Wellbeing, the Northwestern Apartments Rehab Worker under the direction of the mental health professional provide direct supportive services and emergency intervention when needed. Duties include education on mental health issues, completing crisis assessments, various screening tools, providing coping skills education and modelling, prompting and observing clients to meet their activities of daily living. Coordinate and communicate with relevant professionals related to the care and well-being of the client.
Required Education, Certification, Experiences
- Must be 21 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Successfully completed 30 hours of training during the past two years in all of the following areas; recipient rights, recipient-centered individual treatment planning, behavioral terminology, mental illness, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, psychotropic medications and side effects, functional assessment, local community resources, adult vulnerability, receipt confidentiality.
- Must also satisfy the qualifications described in (A) or (B)
- (A) Has an associate of arts degree in one of the behavioral sciences or human services
- or is a registered nurse without a bachelor’s degree
- or who within the previous 10 years has acquired: 3 years of personal life experience with serious and persistent mental illness; three years of life experience as a primary caregiver to an adult with a serious mental illness or traumatic brain injury; 4,000 hours of supervised paid work experience in the delivery of mental health services to adults with a serious mental illness or traumatic brain injury.
- (B) Is fluent in the non-English language or competent in the culture of the ethnic group to which at least 20 percent of the mental health rehabilitation worker’s clients belong;
- Receives during the first 2,000 hours of work, monthly documented individual clinical supervision by a mental health professional;
- has 18 hours of documented filed supervision by a mental health professional or practitioner during the first 160 hours of contract work with recipients, and at least 6 hours of field supervision quarterly during the following year;
- has review and co-signature charting of recipient contacts during field supervision by a mental health professional or practitioner;
- and has 40 hours of additional continuing education on mental health topics during the first year of employment.
- Must pass criminal background check through MH DHS NetStudy.
- Access to personal vehicle and the ability and willingness to use the vehicle in carrying out positions responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable under the agency’s automobile insurance policy.
- Free from substance use problems for a period of no less than 2 years.
