Alpha Media – Portland, OR is seeking a full-time Promotion Director for our local stations, 98.7 The Bull (KUPL), LIVE 95.5 (KWEE), WE 102.9, KINK-FM, FM News 101 (KXL), 750 The Game (KXTG-FM), and Freedom 970 (KUFO). The person in this position will support, coordinate and execute brand engagement activities on-air, online, and on-site. Experience in event planning and promotions, a strong marketing and digital background, and a passion for creativity is a must. The ideal candidate must be a highly organized self-starter with the ability to take direction, possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and enjoy working in a team environment that is dynamic and fast-paced. This is a hybrid in-office/work-from-home opportunity.
Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Alpha Media owns or operates over 200 live broadcast radio stations and digital properties covering all formats serving 44 markets across the United States. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Execution of station branded activities, company events, and sales promotions. This may include concerts, live remote broadcasts, stations, community and client events, station appearances, and more.
- Champion marketing efforts and sales promotions.
- Brainstorm on-brand ideas and create proposals to showcase brands, personalities, and clients.
- Work in partnership with the sales team to gather assets needed for creative services marketing, design, and programming teams.
- Write proposals for concert and event support from the station’s marketing and programming teams (quick turn-around required).
- Communicate project timelines and status and ensure contracted deliverables to program managers, sales team, and clients.
- Coordinate details for the on-site station and air staff/talent appearances and event logistics.
- Assist the sales team in providing promotion wrap-ups and reporting for sponsors and clients.
- Manage marketing/promotional recorded spot inventory.
- On-site at assigned station events (may occur on evenings and weekends): Setting up (raising tents, plugging in sound systems, putting up signage and/or banners) and managing the events while in progress (interacting with listeners and successfully communicating with different types of people - the general public, listeners, co-workers, clients, management, community partners).
- Manage and schedule part-time street team crew and/or recruit and coordinate with colleagues and on-air talent when additional event staffing support is needed.
- Maintain promotional/event and client items/inventory (signage, merchandise, booths, giveaways). Drive station vehicles (from vans to RVs to cars/SUVs) to and from events.
- Support execution of marketing programs as assigned. Create, organize, and execute on-air, online, and on-site contests, ticket giveaways, and promotions.
- Set up contests and utilize contest and promotions software to keep the station(s) FCC compliant (Aptivada).
- Manage prize (tickets, etc.) inventory and fulfillment.
Requirements for this position include the following:
- 21 years or older.
- 2 years of professional experience in marketing, promotion, event management, digital, creative services, customer service, retail, or radio broadcasting.
- Professional, friendly, personable, enthusiastic.
- Organized.
- Able to handle multiple priorities and projects at any given time with high proficiency and accuracy.
- Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance.
- Able to lift 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be reachable via phone and/or email after business hours.
- Transparency, accountability, and reporting of work activities.
Preferred skills and experience:
- Prior experience with entertainment, social media, and digital assets.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, HTML, and PowerPoint.
- Experience writing and producing content, audio, video, social, and digital.
- A hard worker with the ability to self-manage.
- A quick study with the ability to learn new software.
