We are searching for a Pastry Chef or Pastry Lead who has a strong culinary background and an ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who is not only experienced, but also has the ability to handle the demands of an opening business and develop innovative new recipes. The candidate will supervise a team of other pastry cooks, coordinate with our company partners to ensure the freshness of all ingredients, oversee kitchen equipment and facilities, and remain up to date on all food safety regulations.

Position Summary: Coordinates production and distribution of all desserts and bakery items. Supervises all pastry production and pastry staff. Maintains highest standards of quality of all baked goods and pastry items. Reports directly to Executive Chef.

Overview of Responsibilities: Tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Management of pastry team, which includes:
• Writing schedules
• Tasking pastry staff with producing weekly specials

• Menu research, development, and execution.

• Recipe research, writing, and costing.

• Organization and execution of desserts including Special Events, Wine Dinners, special occasion cakes, wedding cakes, and daily baked goods.

• Efficient and quick plating during service, including lunch, brunch and dinner

• Organizing and executing Dessert Programming with other department heads including ticketed dessert events and dessert classes.

• Ordering and inventory of pastry kitchen items.

• Monitors production to maximize quality and minimize waste.

• Enforce company policies and departmental handbooks.

• Training of new employees.

• Utilizes proper food handling techniques following health and safety standards.

Requirements:

• Prior Pastry Lead or Pastry Chef experience necessary.
• Enthusiastic about rustic European-style fare, heirloom ingredients, and local artisanal producers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
