About the Position:
As the primary senior operations managers responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the Middletown laboratory, this role provides leadership with respect to business planning, leads implementation activities to deliver on strategic goals and ensures all compliance requirements are maintained. This role is accountable, in conjunction with the Laboratory Director, for the financial and business performance of the laboratory, ensuring that the operations support and contribute to corporate direction and fostering a work culture that is fully aligned with ALS core values.
Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities:
- Analyze industry trends and deliver on the business strategy set for the Middletown operations;
- Identify new opportunities in the Pennsylvania analytical testing market and provide direction for business development that drives market share growth;
- Lead activities that cultivate client base and cement key client relationships;
- Ensure Middletown operations meets or exceeds all corporate financial, operations and compliance targets;
- Set business goals for all departments within the Middletown Operations and provide leadership to department supervisors in the attainment of those goals;
- Engage senior leaders to determine resource requirements needed to implement strategic direction;
- Lead workforce planning and succession planning in the laboratory to ensure the necessary talent is available to fill future leadership needs;
- Provide mentoring and development opportunities to senior staff or high potential employees;
- Engage managers and employees to instill buy-in and commitment to the company and its performance objectives;
- Consistently exemplify the ALS core values and expect the same from others;
- Review all elements of business and associated risks;
- Implement programs to address identified risks that might otherwise negatively impact services, clients, employees or the public at large;
- Provide direction and guidance to supervisors in the laboratory in order to support the day-to-day laboratory operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have:
- Completion of a bachelor degree required;
- MBA or equivalent senior manager experience;
- Minimum of 5 years in a Senior Management position;
- A background in analytical testing or laboratory is a significant asset.
- Possible travel to additional labs in other areas.
You would also have:
- Strong fluency in interpreting, understanding and applying information gained from financial statements;
- Demonstrated record of setting and meeting budgets and production targets in a complex production environment;
- Extensive experience in a senior management role running a diversified business;
- Ability to inspire and engage others while coordinating activities to achieve a shared vision;
- Superior negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills;
- Strong commitment to ongoing learning and development supporting the career development of others;
- Unwavering focus on achieving results focused and motivating others to do so;
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, customer service and health & safety;
- Ability to flex and quickly adapt elements of the business in order to maximize the ability to meet changing market conditions or capitalize on emerging opportunities;
- Possess superior tact and communication skills in order to work effectively with others;
- Exceptional judgement, decision and problem solving skills;
- Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal;
- Ability to present information effectively both individually and in group settings;
