Maintenance

About the PositionAs the Maintenance Technician this role will consist primarily of performing repairs and maintenance to the building and operational equipment. Specific Responsibilities Routine maintenance and repairs on equipment such as heating and A/C units, and blowers;General building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles and painting;General preparation; equipment maintenance and repair;Plumbing and carpentry work;General grounds keeping duties;Maintain adequate stock of equipment spare parts;Keep all maintenance log books and service records up to date; Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;  Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;  Other duties as assigned.  Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities       Strong mechanical aptitude;       Excellent written and oral communication skills;       Strong command of the English language;       Strong interpersonal skills;       Excellent problem solving skills;      Ability to work under general supervision;      Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Required Qualifications        Grade 12 diploma preferred or equivalent experience;       Experience in general building repairs and operations;         Experience working with plumbing, carpentry, drywall and/or painting;     Experience working with sample prep equipment;       Forklift certificate or experience.  Physical Demands         Ability to stand for long periods of time;         Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;         Ability to lift up to 50lbs;       Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment;       Comfortable in environments with high noise levels;      Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;        Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling, and working with machines;
