THE OPPORTUNITY

The Alta Global Marketing Communications Manager is responsible for managing Alta’s global marketing and branding strategies for Alta dairy, beef, product sales and marketing programs. The ideal candidate is a passionate marketing communications professional with strategic thinking skills to drive marketing plans from ideation to execution and create an impact among global progressive dairy and beef producers.

In collaboration with a central global marketing team (and with the assistance of our global teams as needed), the Alta Global Marketing Communications Manager will strategize, plan and execute a cohesive annual global integrated marketing communications plan. This role will collaborate resources and functional teams to produce resources and tactics that can be leveraged in our 13 retail and 45 distributor markets around the world.

The role will have influence across Alta’s domestic and international markets, requiring effective teamwork with marketing staff from around the world, across time zone and language barriers. This challenging position will create a strong impact on Alta’s clients and visible outcomes for the Alta business.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the strategic development of integrated marketing plans and campaigns driving key global business objectives
  • Lead the execution of the global integrated marketing communication plan, partnering cross-functionally to deliver tactics and measure impact in market
  • Lead and implement strategic marketing and branding campaigns for Alta’s robust portfolio of products, including bovine genetics, cow monitoring systems and health management products.
  • Directs core content development and defines key messages for all product lines
  • In execution, develop content in the form of copywriting and video script development to deliver concise, targeted messages to global audiences
  • Develops a deep understanding of how Alta products are sold and the channels they are sold into
  • Partner with external manufacturer marketing teams to collaborate on tactics and in market support
  • Key USA liaison for global Alta teams bringing high value clients to the USA market for tours and events
  • Establishes influence on cross-functional teams without formal authority to influence and work collaborative with sales and training teams

Organization Alignment & Position Location

  • Position reports to the Alta Global Director of Marketing
  • The summer marketing intern reports to this position May - August
  • USA – preferably in Madison, Wisconsin.
  • Remote, in-office, or hybrid work structure will be considered

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in agricultural marketing communications. Education in marketing, communications, dairy science, animal science, genetics, or a similar field will be considered.
  • 6-8 years of work experience in agriculture marketing, preferably in the beef & dairy genetic industries
  • Willing and able to travel globally up to 25% of the time

Skills & Competencies

  • A strategic marketing communications mindset that identifies opportunities and conceives solutions
  • Engaging and persuasive communication skills with the ability to build relationships and earn trust across cultures to create effective and efficient working relationships
  • Experience in the agriculture industry with a firm understanding of the B2B farm customer perspective
  • Deep understanding of the USA dairy genetics industry and the competitive landscape is an asset
  • Direct hands-on experience building and executing integrated marketing communications plans that leverage digital, social and traditional channels
  • Strong organizational skills combined with a self-starter mindset; ability to multitask and perform under pressure
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to distill complex information into key messages for target audiences
  • Appreciation and understanding for utilizing project management processes to deliver results
  • Proven track record of being an impactful team player who is comfortable working on projects alone or in collaboration with other global team members
  • Enthusiasm for working with global, multi-cultural and cross-functional teams. Passion for learning about the Alta business in all of our global regions is a MUST for this position!
  • Highly accountable with a commitment to deliver to deadlines and budgets
  • Natural leadership skills with the ability to lead other senior team members without a structural direct report relationship
  • Adaptable, with ability to juggle changing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude in the face of changing deliverables or business needs
