What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chef position at Alter Health Group?
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Chef/cook is responsible for maintaining and keeping the kitchen running smoothly, maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in adherence to State Regulatory guidelines and policies and procedures ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations, including safety guidelines.
They will be involved in the developing menus, forecasting supply needs and estimating costs.
- Responsible for developing menus, ordering, purchasing, forecasting supply needs and estimating costs, at all times operating within the budge as outlined
- Is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of kitchen staff and providing training/orientation
- Is responsible for overseeing food and menu compliance for the program
- Will be aware of physical and safety factors in the kitchen, performing rounds and reporting unsafe condition and/or areas of concern to the management
- Maintain standards of acceptable client and staff behavior and reports unacceptable behavior, in line with the company's policies and procedures
- Meal preparation for clients in accordance to menus and dietary needs
- Serve food in accordance with establish portion control procedures
- Attends staff meetings and other meetings as requested by management
- Keeps the kitchen clean, sanitary and up to code and notifies management as issues arise
- Maintains client confidentiality at all times
Requirements
- Must be able to speak, write and understand English sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, clients and families
- One Year experience in cooking in a residential setting
- Culinary background and experience
- Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders
- Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, and submit to the Executive Manager
- Must be knowledgeable in cooking variety of foods
- Adhere to food service timeliness to ensure meal are prepared timely
- Assist in preparation for special meals, parties and events
- Meet licensure training requirement
- Prepare food, in accordance with sanitary regulations, including hand hygiene as well as with established policy and procedures
- Ensure that food and supplies for next meal are readily available
- Assist in inventory and correct storage of incoming food supplies
- Must hold Food Handlers certification
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate
- Biometric data - Ability to pass background check and live scan
- Must be able to work in the US
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Valid Clean Driving record
