The Senior Automation Specialist is the front-line representative for the automation services provided by the company. The primary duties of a Senior Automation Specialist are to prepare accurate and functional high-level code for PLC & SCADA based control systems, troubleshoot and repair customer control system issues. Additionally, the Senior Automation Specialist will be required to support the communication systems for the customer control networks.
The Senior Automation Specialist, specifically, will work on a service and project basis. This position will also mentor and assist where needed and may include supervisory duties.
This position requires varying on-call availability on a 24/7/365 basis
Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
- Provide timely and high-quality service work and troubleshooting for all aspects of a customer's control system.
- Estimate, plan and execute high quality service projects.
- Assist with the efficient operation of the Automation Department by testing control panels, assisting with estimates, etc.
- Manage multiple customer service requests and projects simultaneously and prioritize in accordance with deadline and priority requirements.
Qualifications
- Education – Experience – 8 to 12 years of experience with control systems. Education can be substituted for experience if the degree is in an engineering or control systems discipline. Documented successful completion of a PLC/SCADA project.
- Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret design specifications and plans. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the company. Ability to speak, write and read English.
- Mathematical Skills – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables, in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, project management and email software. Additionally, the candidate shall have the ability to learn varying and new PLC / SCADA software packages.
Other Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
- Computer networking, radio programming and path planning.
- Preference given for prior experience with relay-based control systems and/or instrument technician experience.
- Preference given for Ignition Gold Certification
