As a Transportation Coordinator you will be expected to maintain effective communications with our drivers, customers, and management to ensure safe and timely service. This position reports directly to the Manager of Operations – Midwest & Canada. This position will work a Monday-Friday schedule with rotating weekend on-call coverage. In addition, this position will include off hour’s communications via phone, text, and email.
Specific Dispatch Duties:
Assign drivers to work duties as specified by the customer and in compliance with both US and Canadian DOT regulations as well as US Coast Guard regulations. Dispatch drivers through computer system, telephone, email, and in person on a timely basis. Assign correct equipment per customer's request and load requirements. Assign correct permitting to drivers to ensure compliance within state/county/municipal laws. Perform and reconcile yard checks of local equipment. Direct and follow up with drivers to assure timely pickups and deliveries. Work with the Altom maintenance department to ensure timely maintenance and repairs to Altom equipment. Responsible for 15-25 drivers. Provide leadership and input on how to improve processes to help continue with the growth of the company. Be able to work independently, communicate clearly/concisely, and can make informed decisions to support business operations.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Transportation Supervisor, or similar role. (Preferably in the Petro/Chemical industry).
- Preferred experience of at least 1 year in a tanker trailer/bulk liquid or heavy haul environment.
- Preferred understanding/familiarity with marine vessel fueling and multi-axle equipment.
- Ability to support all business operations – which will include off hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to effectively communicate across different medias and multi-task a variety of projects.
- Be technologically advanced and up to date on industry advances.
- Manage employee workflow, safety, compliance, electronic logging, dispatching, and order entry.
- Ability to train and mentor employees efficiently and fluently in Dispatch Operations.
- Familiarity with dispatch software and electronic logging platforms.
- High school diploma required.
- College degree highly preferred, but not required.

Salary : $45,000 - $60,000
