Summary: Hours: 40 Hours a Week, Rotating shifts 7-330/11-730, every third weekend This position performs lifts, transfers, and positioning techniques with the patient independently or in coordination with the Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist and Nursing team; assists with the coordination of patient schedules in preparation for therapeutic interventions and daily mobility plans; demonstrates ability to assess what lifting devices are needed; sets up traction equipment; and helps with basic cares. Patients cared for include children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Essential Job Functions: Assists with coordinating patient treatment schedules and mobility plans with other disciplines using appropriate scheduling procedures and/or plan of care and communicates any changes. Assists staff with proper lifting, alignment, and positioning techniques according to patient’s diagnosis to ensure safety, privacy, and good body mechanics for patient, staff, and self. Transports and/or transfers patients within or outside of the hospital as required by treatment, physician, or patient preference. Assists Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech/Language Pathologists with the provision of evaluation and therapy intervention. Obtains, prepares, distributes, and maintains therapy supplies and equipment, i.e., adaptive equipment, exercise equipment. Performs patient personal cares/comforts according to standard operating procedures. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization. Certification: Nurse Aide | North Dakota Department of Health | Within 4 Months of Start Date | HR Primary Sources Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 days of Start Date | Learning Management System Education: • Required: GED - Related Field Infection and Safety Requirements : Demonstrates understanding and follows infection control policies and procedures according to standard operating procedure. Maintains requirements for age specific competencies for the position and demonstrates the knowledge or principles of growth and developments and the skills necessary to provide patient/customer care/services. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of and compliance with: All pertinent safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines. Working safely, without causing harm or risk to self, others or property. The work environment safety procedures and prompt reporting of unsafe practices, procedures, accidents, injuries or other safety violations to the Leader. The use of all safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
