We are seeking our next Part-Time Professional Tutor - Science who will be all-in on our mission and who will provide non-classroom, academic assistance/instruction to students on an individual or small-group basis for proactive or remedial purposes. The mission of the Academic Success Centers (ASC) is to provide the AC student with academic support and learning strategies through services, resources and collaborations with faculty that allow students to become engaged, independent and successful learners.
Requirements
EDUCATION
Required: Associate's Degree in Biology/Chemistry or related degree.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Chemistry or related degree.
EXPERIENCE
Required: College science courses (biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, and/or microbiology) with a GPA 3.0 or better.
Preferred: Prior tutoring in a high school or college setting.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
Provide students with learning strategies such as study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies.
Provide supplemental instruction to students, either individual or group setting, to improve academic performance.
Organize the tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
Develop tutoring materials for students.
Support the operation of the Science Tutoring Center during business hours.
Support the mission of the Science Academic Success Center as stated in the Tutor Code of Conduct.
Communicate with faculty with regards to student needs and/or tutoring completion.
