This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Integrated Basic Skills Training (IBEST) Support Instructor for Healthcare who will be all-in on our mission and who will co-teach and help prepare students with the necessary skills to place them on an academic career pathway, all structed to help students overcome barriers to success.
The IBEST Support Instructor may also assist in preparing students for the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA), and state or national discipline-specific exams to successfully receive credentials.
Working closely with students, the IBEST Support Instructor will prepare lesson plans and manage a classroom using high engagement practices and retention strategies, with 25% of the time performing administrative duties to remain in compliance with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) grant.
This position is required to teach morning classes.
Requirements
EDUCATION
Required : Associate's Degree in a Healthcare related field.
Preferred : Bachelor’s Degree in a Healthcare related field.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred :
Experience working with learning management systems, such as Blackboard.
Experience working with educational technologies, such as Zoom, Google Suite, Remind and Microsoft Office.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Co-teach one or two courses per 8-week term and ensure students are learning and understanding coursework by receiving a grade of 70% or higher in their class.
Provide classroom instruction in one or more of the following areas : math, reading, language, listening, speaking and writing.
Instruct on topics needed to support academic students in certificate programs and obtain employment to earn a living wage.
Create learner-centered lessons with high engagement activities and effective retention practices.
Identify students for the I-BEST services, utilizing Career Ready You (CRU) grant eligibility.
Report weekly to the Career Pathway Supervisor on individual and classroom student persistence, retention and completion of data.
Complete CRU grant-related compliance requirements, all CRU grant student eligibility requirements and complete required reporting for Career Pathways Supervisor and CRU Director
Collaborate with content instructors and professionals in the development of individual students’ needs and progress and record student direct hours daily and submit to administration.
Review instructional content, methods, and student evaluations to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the program, curriculum, and instruction for the purpose of improving student achievement.
Administer valid TWC pre-assessment and progress assessments.
Complete required TEAMS reports and use other CRU computer systems (training provided).

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and / or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Working Conditions : This position is required to teach morning classes and must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment : This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.
e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions.
Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
