Job summary
The individual selected for this position will support the US media strategy, planning, and execution of paid media campaigns by GCA Marketing.

The work will challenge you to be resourceful, think big while staying connected to the details, translate data-driven insights into strategic recommendations, and embrace a high degree of change and ambiguity at speed. The scope and scale of what we strive to achieve is immense, but it is also meaningful and energizing.

Key job responsibilities
GCA’s Principal Analyst will lead the survey and analytics work that measure our success at increasing brand sentiment of Amazon among key audiences worldwide. Instead of planning and executing media against traditional direct-response conversion metrics like sales, clicks, or signups - GCA success is driven by offline outcomes that are far more difficult to capture and measure. Though randomized-controlled trials that rely on surveys, our team measures when our work is successful through attitudinal change measurement. We’re looking for the right person to balance the imperative to reliably solve difficult statistical and analytical problems, while maintaining a bias for action that powers our ongoing marketing.

Your focus will be on survey interpretation, ongoing meta-analysis, audience optimization, and experimental planning and monitoring across multiple paid media mechanisms. You will bring a data-driven mindset to help determine the optimal channel mix for reach our specific audience and move the needle. You will work with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver quality, scalable analysis that comes in on time and under budget.

A day in the life
As the US Principal Analyst, you’ll measure paid media campaigns by:
  • Acting as a primary analyst for interpreting results of observational and causal measurement surveys
  • Working with technology partners to build and scale experimental results repository
  • Developing, iterating, and implementing complex real-world experiments through media campaigns
  • Managing partnerships with other teams within Amazon to scale and enhance depth of audience learnings
  • Connecting survey results to key media buy metrics (reach, frequency, viewability, VCR, etc.), quality, and performance
About the team
Our team strives to identify the persuasive return on investment for every dollar we spend. We build marketing plans that persuade our core audiences through best-in-class media tactics and measurement methodology that enables us to optimize towards the principles and platforms that achieve real-world outcomes at the expense of those that don’t.

Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. It isn’t about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it’s about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.

Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.

o Post-graduate degree, ideally in one of the social sciences (e.g., PhD in economics or political science)
o An ability to move fast, adapt to change, and build programs and systems from the ground-up
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate plans to audiences that do not have a technical data background
o An eagerness to learn, experiment, invent, and have an impact
o Familiarity with the privacy, legal, and compliance requirements for data management within a marketing function
o Exceptional communication, decision-making and time-management skills
o Excels in fast-paced work environments and juggling multiple projects with tight deadlines
o Outstanding collaboration skills to stakeholders of diverse and varying technical backgrounds
