The DC Security org owns a collection of security devices, third party software and firmware, and home-grown software tools and bespoke hardware solutions. This technology provides both physical and data security at traditional datacenters (lease/owned and Colo) as well as Edge and Non-traditional Environments. Our team is seeking System Development engineers with broad technical skills to help us optimize how we connect to these devices and monitor availability. You will deliver a system that monitors health of security devices, understands the criticality of each component, and drives prioritization and alarming for remediation of each system. As a member of this team you will employ Python and Typescript/Javascript and Database query language such as SQL. You will get to use the full set of AWS technologies to build these services. The services that you build will be a force multiplier for protecting the AWS cloud for all customers. This will help us preserve our customers' trust in us. Key job responsibilities
Participate in the design, development, implementation, testing and documentation of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services. Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture. Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance. Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation. Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools. Mentor junior development engineers.

Successful members of this team collaborate effectively with internal end-users, cross-functional software development teams, and technical support/sustaining engineering teams to solve problems and deliver successfully against high operational standards of system availability and reliability. About the team
AWS Data Center Operations plans, builds, and operates the rapidly scaling high availability data centers supporting the AWS business across the globe. Safety, security, and availability are the most important things we deliver to our external and internal customers. You will build highly scalable systems to automate and maintain high availability of devices in our datacenters.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Seattle, WA, USA
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 2 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1 years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3 years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C , C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
