The Prime Video Players team is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to own and drive high-impact initiatives in the playback tech stack to help users worldwide enjoy live events, channels, movies and shows on mobile devices, living room devices and the web.
The Senior TPM role requires experienced leadership skills, the ability to partner effectively across teams within and outside of Amazon, strong technical expertise, the ability to manage projects with cross-org dependencies and to find solutions to unanticipated obstacles. As a member of the team, you’ll need to understand the fundamentals of the latest video technology and what it takes to launch large scale video services and features that involve multiple internal and external teams. You will help evolve our architecture with your background in distributed cloud computing while innovating on video advertising technology. You will drive future technical solutions that will impact how we run Prime Video worldwide. You will also need to continuously engage business, product, and technology leaders and be a strong advocate for our customers. Key job responsibilities
- Dive Deep with product, business and engineering leadership to clearly determine program goals, milestones, steps, dependencies and owners.
- Manage the execution of high-visibility initiatives, from initial requirements definition to design, implementation and rollout.
- Earn Trust with partner teams, leadership and other stakeholders through regular, accurate communication, highlighting upcoming risks and adjusting as projects evolve.
- Deliver Results by driving the execution of these projects cross-functionally, provide status updates, communicate risks and identify alternative paths in the face of obstacles.
- Own strategic goals with high visibility within Prime Video and across Amazon orgs.
- Identify, operationalize and automate repetitive process related to advertising activation.
- Become a video advertising expert and key technical point of contact across Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Advertising and AWS engineering teams.
About the team
We are the team that makes the video happen. This opportunity sits with the Core Video Platform Technology team, responsible for the end-to-end systems that enable playback, video advertising and delivery of high quality experiences to our customers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of technical program management experience working directly with software engineering teams
- Experience managing cross-functional programs and release schedules
- Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design
- Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Exceptional program and project management skills.
- Experience creating detailed project plans for complex initiatives with clear items, dependencies and owners.
- Experience executing and running complex programs across large organizations.
- Experience building cross-organizational relationships, influencing other teams to meet common goals, surfacing issues and escalating to leadership when appropriate.
- Track record of complex and creative problem solving to solve unanticipated obstacles.
- Comfortable managing ambiguity and multiple moving parts in complex projects.
- Experience operationalizing new processes, identifying owners and delegating.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to think strategically and act tactically.
- Comfortable having deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed with long-term thinking while addressing short-term needs.
- Experience acting as technical liaison between external customers and internal product, engineering and business teams.
