Job summary
Amazon is navigating complex regulations, aimed at large technology companies, that require us to build or adapt infrastructure and customer and selling partner experiences on aggressive schedules. The Amazon Legal team seeks a detail-oriented and highly motivated professional to own large, strategic cross functional programs that impact product and engineering teams across the company.
As a Sr Mgr, Product Mgmt Tech, you will drive programs that enable teams across Amazon to collaborate on compliance plans; own mechanisms for escalating and resolving hotly debated topics; and build metrics and processes to measure and report progress to the Steam. You will collaborate with and influence senior legal, technical, and business leaders in the process.
We are looking for a critical thinker who is also technically adept and comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that’s higher than many programs. The ideal candidate displays high levels of bias for action, earn trust and ownership; is able to communicate and influence successfully at all levels of the broader organization; and operates with considerable autonomy and discretion in a fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
• Drive program objectives – define project plans, manage implementation activities and develop processes, documentation and communication for program roll out and continuity.
• Manage progress – implement process to ensure strong follow up management occurs with senior leaders on hotly debated topics, one-way door decisions, and other open items that require high judgement to resolve.
• Reporting – track performance against program objectives and regularly report progress to stakeholders, including the Steam.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10 years of experience in product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology
- 6 years of experience managing teams
- Experience with end to end product delivery
- Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
• Has effectively communicated complex issues and concepts verbally and in writing to a wide range of audiences from technical developers to non-technical executives.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams and senior leaders
• Experience with program management for large, cross-functional projects
• Experience meeting deadlines while managing multiple projects with competing priorities and use good judgment working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous work experience in a law firm or corporate legal department is a plus
• Successful track record in understanding and improving operational processes
• Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate business processes from several angles, including from the perspective of business process leaders, customers, and supporting internal stakeholders
• Comfortable leading group meetings with all levels of management
• Work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations
• Prior experience coordinating cross-functional teams to common objectives and motivating and focusing people resources outside one's own team
• Decisive and confident in influencing business leaders and communicating strategies across multiple levels of organization
