We are seeking a talented and motivated Systems Development Engineer. The responsibilities include development of infrastructure foundational services, writing tools and services to improve automation for deployment and releases, building and maintaining test fleets, performing functional and regression testing on software, defining and performing stress testing, and monitoring production software. We are looking for someone who can build on existing services and architectures, and is excited to create new automated solutions.
The Infrastructure Team, within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure group, supports fleet-wide telemetry and software tools for the server platform for our innovative web service and e-commerce technology platforms. This platform is industry-leading in terms of frugality and operational excellence, and is critical to the success of the AWS business and the thousands of customers who use utility computing today. Interested candidates must be prepared to work an on-call rotation.
This position can sit in Herndon, VA, Seattle, WA, or Denver, CO.
The pay range for this position in Colorado is $99,100 - $160,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess an active Top Secret security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as C , C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar, or equivalent experience
- 2 years programming or scripting language experience (Python, Java, Ruby)
- 2 years Linux or similar UNIX distribution experience
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with AWS technologies (aws.amazon.com) including DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, and SQS.
- Experience with Python frameworks and packages including Flask and boto
- Experience with security best practices in tool development and access controls.
- Experience managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse environments.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgeSQL).
- Highly organized and able to coordinate with other team members.
