What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Scientist II (REMOTE) position at Ambry Genetics Corporation?
The Clinical Scientist II is involved in the clinical and research activities related to the ExomeNext™, rare disease panels, SNP array, and/or any other rare disease test offered at Ambry Genetics. Responsibilities include: analysis of ExomeNext™ (Clinical Exome) cases, management and curation of ExomeNext™ data, variant assessment for rare disease tests, assistance in curation of Ambry Characterized Gene Database (ChaD), case review, characterized and uncharacterized, candidate gene reviews, primer design and troubleshooting for Sanger confirmation and co-segregation analyses, and participation in clinical research (conference abstracts and peer-reviewed publications). Additional responsibilities as designated by supervisor/manager and/or with increasing seniority (Clinical Scientist III, Senior Clinical Scientist, Lead Clinical Scientist)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Analysis of ExomeNext™ cases.
- Assessing complex variants for ExomeNext or Rare disease panel reporting.
- Assessing clinical validity of gene-disease relationships using internal criteria.
- Research and write gene reviews for clinically characterized and novel genes.
- Assist with data analysis and compilation for purposes of publications, patents, and marketing.
Education and Skills
- Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, or related scientific field. M.S. in in molecular biology, genetics, or related scientific field with exceptional expertise and excellent job performance is also considered.
- Good understanding of Sanger and next-generation sequencing technologies is required.
- Capable of accomplishing workload and additional projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively, maintain a high level of organization, ability to prioritize work.
- Ability and desire to work in fast paced environment.
- Ability to speak effectively one-to-one, in group settings, with clients, vendors and employees of the organization.
- For PhD, a minimum of 4 year- experience with clinical genetics specialty required.
- For MS, a minimum of 6 years experience after graduation is required
