Job Overview: This position will support all production operations to optimize output and minimize waste while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards. Assist in the manufacture of quality products (per customer standards) as determined by the production schedule and or supervisor. To gain understanding of the technical knowledge required in the manufacturing process, and will continuously improve skills and productivity through teamwork. Performing housekeeping chores as needed, to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
Job Dimensions:
Flexible shift schedules include 12 hour and 8 hour shifts
- 2.2.3, 12 hr schedule on days (6:00AM-6:00PM) or nights (6:00PM-6:00AM) Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- 8 hour shifts include 2nd shift (2:00PM-10:00PM) and 3rd shift (10:00PM-6:00AM)

Principal Accountabilities:
- Start-up and shutdown equipment.
- Train new inspector operators in the area. Reinforce the safety and environmental principles of the area and ensure the new operator follows the standard operating procedures.
- Operate computers to monitor and change process variables.
- Communicates via shift logs and provide proper relief to assure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the plant.
- Inspects raw materials and finished product.
- Conduct product inspection in order to visually inspect, monitor equipment and process conditions to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Report any incidents or near misses that may affect the Safety, Health or the Environment.
- Acquire knowledge of operations and equipment, instrumentation, operation processes, etc.
- Communicate within the group to insure Maintenance and Operators are kept up to date with what occurred during the shift and possible fixes.
Qualifications/Requirements
Knowledge & Experience:
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Technical knowledge of bag/pouch machines
- Knowledge of pouch/bag making and film handling fundamentals, trouble shooting is desirable
Education & Certifications:
High school diploma or GED, Associates Degree and/or industrial certification preferred
Skills/Abilities/Behaviours:
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read dimensional graphic templates in both metric/standard and apply to finished product
- Basic computer skills
- Demonstrates organizational skills
Physical Demands
- Physically able to lift up to 40lbs
- Standing up to 12 hours per day on a rotating day or evening shift, up to 5 days/week
- Occasional twisting, turning, or bending to move items up to 50 lbs
- Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards
- Able to read/see up to 1/16 of an inch
Work Environment
Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places. This position requires the use of eye protection, hair net, and hearing protection in designated areas. When handling a sharp object or tool a cut glove must be worn per safety requirements. Other required PPE is task specific. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.
