Position Description:
The Captain-In-Charge (CIC) is responsible for the safe operation and keeping the riverboat in compliance with USCG /ABSC regulations year round, completing quarterly inspections and having the riverboat ready for ABSC annual and semi-annual inspections. The CIC should be professional at all times and possess good communication skills. The CIC must have Boyd Style while providing outstanding and legendary guest services.
- Adheres to and enforces compliance will all standards/regulations established by Louisiana State Police Gaming Division, OSHA, USCG, ABS Consulting and other federal, state, and local agencies having jurisdiction over riverboat gaming and permanently-moored craft in Louisiana while adhering to the policies and procedures set forth by this property.
- Oversees the riverboat’s preventive maintenance program. Ensures all equipment onboard the riverboat is maintained at a level commiserate with a premier gaming operation by enforcing a schedule of inspections and preventive maintenance and tracking tasks assigned/completed.
- Supervises all aspects of riverboat operation and administration
- Is responsible for assisting in the development of Marine Department operating annual budgets in support of operations financial objectives; Maintains financial reports required for budgetary purposes
- Coordinates activities with EIC (Engineer-in-Charge)
- Complete necessary paperwork as required, including deck log, work log and checklist.
- Responsible for all EVS, Riverboat Technicians and Deck Supervisor personnel and their duties.
- Ensures all riverboat work is performed in accordance with safe work practices, policies, and procedures
- Develops the professional skills of subordinates
- Trains and evaluates riverboat Team Members
- Coordinates staffing and scheduling according to project needs of all EVS, Riverboat Technicians and Deck supervisor along with tracking all time and attendance in accordance with company policy.
- Ensure adequate supply inventories are maintained for the Marine Department.
- In an emergency is responsible for the safety of the riverboat and all Guests and Team Members on board
- Understands his/her own responsibilities and responsibilities of all Team Members listed on the Station Bill
- Ensures the emergency preparedness of the Marine Department
- May be required to perform duties outside of normal job description where in the Company’s judgment it is necessary in the interest of efficiency, productivity, or improved guest service.
- Assure that all personnel under his/her command are delivering outstanding legendary guest services with Boyd Style.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Documents that establish both identity and employment eligibility
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid Non-Key Gaming License issued by Louisiana State Police
- Preferred License:
- Holds or has held a MASTER 1600 Gross Ton license. If expired, it is not older than 5 years and has not been revoked or suspended
- Required License:
- Must have held at least a MATE 500 TON or Master 100 Gross Tons license for at least 5 years and, if the license is not current, then the expired license is not older than 5 years and has not been revoked or suspended by the U. S. Coast Guard.
- Must pass a chemical dependency test as required and work in a drug free environment.
- Skills required:
- Must have strong leadership and team building skills.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Must be flexible to work varying time schedules as needed.
- Able to create or read and interpret documents such as vessel schematics, blueprints, construction drawings and policy and procedure documents.
- Able to write routine correspondence and process needed reports.
- Able to speak effectively with customers and/or team members.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively over hand held radios
- Able to communicate effectively during emergency situations
- Able to remain calm during emergency situations
