Facility Maintenance Technician IV

The successful candidate will have outstanding maintenance and repair skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best in class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction.

Amentum is seeking a Facilities Technician to join our industrial operations and maintenance team at a major pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the San Diego, CA. area. The typical work schedule for this role 1st shift, however, various hours may be required based on business demand.

The Facilities Technician is responsible for providing a level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the facility mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment and systems in a pharmaceutical research environment.

The Facilities Technician will perform many daily general duties, including:

  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing facility mechanical systems, facility HVAC equipment and systems, and pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems.

  • Conducting preventive maintenance inspections and performing required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and more.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing various mechanical and industrial systems.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing various mechanical and industrial systems.

  • Performing basic repairs on water, compressed air, and steam lines.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing basic electrical issues.

  • Monitor, assess, and respond to critical systems via systems such as Metasys and REES.

  • Performing preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and control and operating systems, as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.

  • Analyzing and resolving work problems, or assisting workers in solving work problems

  • Understanding company policies and enforcing safety regulations. Performing daily duties of the position in a safe manner by following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag-out procedures while wearing PPE as required.

As the Facilities Technician, you will be expected to:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Three years of experience as a maintenance/facilities technician and/or equivalent schooling with competent background.

  • Ability to work in a highly regulated environment with attention to detail.

  • Strong mechanical skills and aptitude with the ability to work safely with high voltage electricity including up to 480V.

  • Strong written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential system/equipment failures.

  • Ability to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.

  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and successfully complete a fit test for each type of respirator needed for the position or for an approved alternate respirator that provides equal or better protection from identified hazards.

  • Ability to work overtime when required, including holidays and weekends.

  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.

  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Some physical requirements include:

  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs.

  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding

  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement.

  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.

  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions

  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.

Special Requirements: Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed. Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.

Pfizer Site Requirement:

  • All employees and contractors working at a Pfizer site must be fully vaccinated against covid-19 by November 15, 2021, unless there is an approved medical or religious exemption. "Fully vaccinated" is defined as receiving the full dose therapy of an EUA approved COVID-19 vaccine and being 14 days post the completion of the required dose regimen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in HVAC, industrial mechanical, industrial electrical, or a related skilled trade.

  • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, supply and exhaust fans, power transmission components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and more.

  • Experience programming, troubleshooting and/or repairing HVAC with building automation systems (especially Johnson Controls Metasys and REES) in an industrial or research facility environment.

  • Experience working with Building Automation Systems (BAS)/ Building Management Systems (BMS) or Energy Management systems.

  • An active EPA Universal certification.
