What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Engineer position at Amentum?
Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the growth of fusion centers throughout the U.S. Indo Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR). The Systems Engineer must assist with systems and technical engineering services and be prepared to perform team leader functions when required. This position requires travel on about a quarterly basis to Singapore, Fiji, and/or the Soloman Islands. More locations may be added. The purpose of travel is to interface with the end user to assist with systems set ups, software installations, and gauging to achieve end user satisfaction.
Another key function of the Systems Engineer is to interface with the customer to provide concise updates on systems actions taken. Using your experience, help our customer, the USINDOPACOM J00 Commander's Action Group (CAG), define, document, and follow an open systems approach and widely supported consensus-based standards in hardware, software, subsystems, and elements that comprise fusion center systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and design systems infrastructure including the selection and integration of hardware.
- Work with fusion center technicians to analyze, develop, modify, test and maintain systems.
- Verify and validate systems meets internal and external requirements.
- Diagnose problems and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Specialize in complex technical and business matters.
- Assume a team lead role for the Fusion Center Team when necessary.
- Provide programmatic technical briefings and point papers that may be presented.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to discuss engineering level issues and topics.
- Review concepts, plans, demonstrations, and other documents as required, providing analysis and recommendations.
- Support capability phasing and conduct requirements analysis as required.
- Participate in technical service meetings and other technical exchanges.
- Support for defining and evolving fusion center system requirements and capabilities.
- Support high-value analysis, assessment, test and evaluation of new capabilities to integrate new hardware and software capabilities into fusion center planning and operations.
- Provide support for the development, planning, staffing, coordination, integration, execution, and assessment of system engineering capabilities.
- Help identify operational use-cases for enhancements in systems capabilities and provide insights on integration options that can translate into system upgrades.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a systems or engineering related field.
- At least eight (8) years of full-time professional experience working as a systems engineer.
- Experience working within the Indo-Pacific region.
- Experience working with Publicly Available Information / Open-Source Intelligence (PAI/OSINT).
- Must have an Active TOP-SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in a technical discipline.
- Experience working with and knowledge of major database systems and applications programming interface (API)s for web-based systems.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML).
- Experience contributing to management of a Common Operating Picture (COP).
- Experience using PAI/OSINT in support of a COP.
- Experience using Automatic Identification System (AIS) and Vessel Monitoring System (VMS).
- Experience with Dark Vessel Detection (DVD).
- Experience with Long Range Identification & Tracking (LRIT).
- Experience with ISR, to include cyber and space-based ISR.
- Experience with formal Project Management methodologies.
- Knowledge of Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO).
- Knowledge of Visit Board Search & Seizure (VBSS) operations.
- Knowledge of Counter Terrorism (CT) and Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) intelligence analysis and operations.
