This position reports into the Financial Planning & Analysis department and will support the Society’s sponsored programs office to ensure compliance with sponsor and Society requirements for government and private grants. This position serves as a key resource providing guidance, oversight and support on overall financial management and analysis of the sponsored programs. This position provides oversight on issues related to the fiscal, administrative, and regulatory management of grants and contracts from the application stage through close-out for both incoming & outgoing government funds.  This position will also oversee the financial component of Federal, State, and Local Regulatory compliance reporting related to (c)(4) activities including set-up requirements for specific reports.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day to day leadership for the financial planning and analysis grants management/compliance teams including annual resource allocation plans, forecasts, and compliance reporting.
  • Provide guidance to the grants management team to ensure both technology resources and processes are streamlined, automated and efficiencies are continuously being assessed.
  • Partner and develop a strong working knowledge of the enterprise mission, advocacy and mission program operations to better assist other departments as needed regarding financial administration of sponsored projects, including providing internal financial status reports on a regular basis.
  • Support the resource allocation planning and forecasting process for grants management
  • Ensure monthly, annual & periodic internal management reporting of sponsored projects. Work directly with project managers/principal investigators to tailor internal reporting to their needs.
  • In cooperation with other SPO staff, facilitate training regarding financial oversight of sponsored projects for staff managing these funds.
  • Interpret restrictions and apply appropriate coding conventions to ensure proper GAAP treatment of sponsored projects.
  • Validate and maintain financial documentation of sponsored projects by working with staff throughout the Society.
  • Provide post-award review of sponsored projects for financial compliance and provide feedback as needed to grant managers and other staff.
  • Oversee the preparation, review and submission of all required internal and external financial reports and/or invoices related to sponsored projects.
  • Support SPO and grants management team in providing related documentation to Finance for the Society’s external financial statement audit related to sponsored projects, additionally responsible for the preparation of the A-133 audit & collection of all data/documentation associated with the A-133.
  • Support submission of the  the Indirect Cost Proposal to the Department of Health & Human Resources annually.
  • Document processes and procedures to comply with and report on statutory financial requirements of sponsored projects of the Society.
  • Manage financial compliance and reporting for a portfolio of sponsored projects that will include government grants, contracts and related
  • Ensure invoicing of govt. grants is streamlined and timely.
  • Ensure review of govt. funded expenses & monitoring of compliance in a timely manner
  • Responsible for financial component of Federal, State, and Local Regulatory compliance reporting related to (c)(4) activities including set-up requirements for specific reports.
  • Partner with business leads on projects - developing business cases with key performance metrics and dashboards related to grant funded projects
  • Develop and support monthly financial reporting and dashboards for all supported areas. Provide insight and analytics to help guide the business to ensure the grant component is inclusive in their business analytics and reporting.
  • Manage financial segment structure for grants management
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as requested by VP, FP&A and OCFO leadership and continually strive to identify opportunities to provide financial leadership aimed at reducing costs; increasing revenues; and driving more dollars toward mission.
