As a member of the Consumer Products & Services legal team of the General Counsel’s Organization, this position will provide support to the Amex Global Dining team, including its proprietary reservation and table management platform, Resy Network. The Resy and Global Dining team’s mission is to continually define the company’s dining strategy, with a focus on supporting the world’s best restaurants, using technology to imagine the future of hospitality and driving Card Member loyalty through restaurant and hospitality-based programs – all with a customer first lense. This position will provide legal support on a wide range of issues that arise on a day-to-day basis to help support this mission.
Here’s just some of what you’ll do in this role:
- Serve as the primary lawyer and strategic advisor to the Global Dining team.
- Advise clients on a broad spectrum of issues that impact the Global Dining team and the Resy technology products, including marketing, customer communications, user experiences and new product development.
- Lead contract drafting and negotiations of varying complexity. Examples include commercial contracts with restaurants, vendors and third-party platforms for technology integrations and events.
- Prepare and update standard template agreements, as well as develop best-in-class contract playbooks.
- Partner with subject matter legal counsel, Line of Business Compliance, Privacy, InfoSecurity, and other key stakeholders.
- Develop subject matter expertise on laws and regulations that impact a global consumer-facing restaurant booking platform and SaaS offering to restaurants.
- Participate as part of a team of seasoned attorneys and legal managers, offering thought leadership for practice group and GCO-wide projects.
- Collaborate across the legal organization to facilitate robust knowledge sharing and linking of strategies and issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree & J.D.
- Qualified to practice law in New York
- 6 years of relevant in-house and/or law firm experience
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with passion for generating creative and innovative solutions
- Strong process-management skills and ability to help identify and implement improvements in work process to enhance efficiency and productivity
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, take on new responsibilities and prioritize work in a dynamic, deadline intensive environment
- Capacity to pivot appropriately when challenged with new information or evolving circumstances
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, in particular the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly and concisely to non-specialists
- Proven ability to act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders
- Experience in technology or payments is a plus
