Description
Motivated, experienced and detail oriented individual that services a large book of commercial construction accounts. The employee should be able to multi-task and have a strong working knowledge of their local construction insurance marketplace. In addition to providing exceptional day-to-day service, the employee shall also be responsible for leading the account renewal process, identifying and recommending coverage and markets, negotiating with underwriters and carriers, and preparing and presenting new and renewal strategies and proposals to current and prospective clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Primary client contact for day-to-day coverage questions. Handle client requests for information, complex endorsement needs, and insurance program changes
- Account Manager will assist in overseeing Account Associates. Account Associates report to the Account Executives, but the Account Manager will assist in manager workflow, training, and keeping them connected to the client life cycle
- Develop proficiency with internal systems utilized by American Global (Applied Epic)
- Oversee and delegate client requests for endorsements, binders, certificates of insurance, invoices, automobile identification cards, premium financing, policy checking, and similar items to Account Associate.
- Review and process policy audits including client disputes of such
- Follow the policies and practices of American Global
- Review and analyze policies, endorsements, and binders for accuracy, recommending changes or amendments.
- Obtain renewal information from client in organized and timely manner
- Responsible for the marketing of assigned accounts, obtaining and evaluating quotations, and determining and recommending markets. Prepare complete and accurate submissions including detailed loss summaries. Negotiate with company underwriters.
- Maintain knowledge of carrier underwriting criteria, deviations, plans, and marketing policy.
- Build and maintain carrier relationships to develop and support an understanding of the construction insurance marketplace. Negotiate with company underwriters.
- Prepare proposals of insurance for Account Executive’s final approval
- Bind insurance coverages as instructed, address binding subjectivities, and convert proposals of insurance to summaries of insurance post binding
- Prepare premium allocations for clients as needed
- Calculate net rates for clients as needed
- Complete certificate checklist and special account handling instructions based on bound terms and conditions.
- Review and assist in analysis of client experience modification ratings
- Work with the claims team on client issues as needed to provide information and communication
- Assist other team members to balance workloads when needed.
- Keep customers informed of status of any request
- Ability to clearly explain problems/concerns to co-workers, supervisors and/or agency principals and suggest/recommend solutions
- Participate in all company meetings
- Oversee Account Associate work for accuracy and quality
- Provide backup for other team members during their absence.
- Undertake various duties as assigned.
- Responsible for billing accurately and timely
- Responsible for following with clients on invoice collections (receivables) and working with accounting to keep up to date on client billings
- Review insurance requirements in contracts in order to correctly issue certificates of insurance and provide feedback on discrepancies in contractual requirements and client’s insurance program.
- Conducts research; compiles information in organized manner
- Participate in off-site carrier and client meeting as required.
- Participation in local insurance associations encouraged
- Maintain insurance CE as required
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Proficiency with Applied Epic, and any related agency management system
- Strong technical property and casualty knowledge, typically 2-3 years industry experience.
- Ability to present and clearly explain the details of property and casualty programs to clients.
- Strong background in account management, servicing, placement and negotiation of property and casualty coverages.
- Ability to solve problems and think independently and as part of a team.
- Superb interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work well under pressure with attention to detail.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, monitor and control work flow deadlines.
- Be energetic/have a sense of urgency.
- Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to travel as required
- Experience with experience modification analysis software a plus
Education & Licensing Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred or related work experience
- RIBO or Home Province Insurance brokers license
- CIPs or CRM designation is desirable
