The Grant Analyst is responsible for supporting and facilitating the pre-award review process for proposals requesting restricted funding to advance the mission of the American Heart Association. The Grant Analyst will ensure proposals adhere to requirements of the funding organizations, follows policies and procedures of the American Heart Association, and fully advances the mission of the AHA. The ideal applicant will be familiar with the American Heart Association’s core mission, including mission advancement and issue-based fundraising opportunities as well as best practices for project implementation. The Grant Analyst will be cross trained in other related areas including developing budgets for restricted proposals and preparing gift agreements (grant contracts). This position is not a fundraising/development role.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

• Analyzes restricted funding proposal packets (application, budget, letters of support, etc.) for completion, accuracy, and adherence to American Heart Association policies and procedures. Reviews funder requirements and ensures proposals are aligned with funder requirements and American Heart Association priorities. Routes completed proposal packages for internal review using an American Heart Association platform.
• Contributes to development of resources that will support proposal development teams across the organization in understanding American Heart Association’s funding needs, priorities, and processes.
• Collaborates with Development, Corporate Relations, Mission Advancement (grants), Integrated Programs, Legal, Finance and other departments that regularly and consistently interact with the restricted funding process to improve proposal process and workflow.
• Prepares and distributes regular internal communications on the status of proposals currently in process and ensures deadlines are met.
• Assist in developing budgets for restricted projects and with preparing gift agreements as a member of a matrixed team.
• Other duties, projects, or analyses as assigned including participation on cross functional task forces.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

• BA in Finance, Business, Public Health, or related area
• 3 years of work-related experience in a nonprofit or similar organization
• Experience in proposal, contract, or agreement development and administration
• Experience developing project scope of work, resource identification and/or expense budget
• Basic understanding of project/program resource allocation and budget development
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
• Proficient with assigned functional applications or systems including shared document repositories (intranet operations) such as SharePoint
• Ability to communicate in writing and orally with correct grammar and spelling

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in pre-award proposal analysis
