Responsibilities
The Guidelines Advisor is responsible for developing and implementing procedures to develop guideline(s) for multiple documents in line with AHA/ACC/ASA methodology, style and procedures in conjunction with guideline writing groups. Responsible for supervising manuscript preparation for organizational approval and final publication in scientific journals.
Essential Job Duties
- Act as primary liaison, project manager, and methodology expert for assigned guideline (and/or performance measures) writing group(s) including planning, scheduling, and facilitating committee agendas and meetings. Identify and develop relationships with expert volunteers for writing committee members leading to real-time draft development, face to face meetings and consensus conferences.
- Be responsible for writing committee literature review and preparation of evidentiary documentation or graphics. Develop and maintain expertise in ACC/AHA/ASA guideline methodologies, styles, and procedures. Facilitate content concordance between multiple documents to prevent issues including but not limited to conflicting recommendations across guidelines.
- Integrate written materials drafted by multiple authors into a single document and facilitate ACC/AHA/ASA and partnering organization approval of the guideline. Assist guideline writing group members with creation of visual displays of data.
- Prepare and manage schedules and supervise progress of guideline writing committees to ensure that the project is running on schedule.
- Review board-approved documents for accuracy, format, and style; and prepare files for delivery to journal publishers.
- Participate in professional meetings such as the International Stroke Conference (February) and Scientific Sessions Association (November) annual meetings and guideline writing group meetings throughout the year, as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in laboratory Science, Public Health, Epidemiology or related Health or Medical Research focus
- At least 4 years of experience in medical or health research writing or editing
- Ability to understand, integrate and summarize scientific literature.
- Solid understanding of medical terminology
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and the public as part of a team.
- Outstanding writing and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a laboratory Science
