American Heritage Credit Union, a $4 billion credit union, has an immediate opening for a Credit Dispute Representative. This position will work with consumers and credit reporting agencies to ensure that the integrity of the data submitted to the credit reporting agencies is accurate. Work with internal clients to ensure all updates and changes are reporting accurately.

  • Process inbound borrower inquiries regarding questions and concerns about credit reporting, disputed credit history, and accuracy of credit reports.
  • Review and investigate all direct and indirect credit disputes in accordance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and respond within compliant timeframes.
  • In response to an Automatic Credit Dispute Verification (ACDV) verify/update core System to ensure data is accurate.
  • Process, analyze and investigate via E-Oscar all credit bureau disputes to ensure all data is reporting accurately under the Metro II reporting guidelines.
  • Supply department and external requests with reviews of credit reports as requested.
  • Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas of improvement.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements to credit reporting and credit dispute processes.
  • Maintain internal/external confidence and protect operations by keeping credit information confidential.
  • Prioritize and organize work on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of the credit bureau industry knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Metro II and related guidelines and regulations.
  • Ability to research and interpret payment history and file maintenance to accurately respond to a credit dispute regarding loans and shares.
  • Ensure all stages of bankruptcy including discharged, dismissed, reaffirmed and withdrawn statuses are updated to report correctly when notified of changes and within regulatory timeframes.
  • In conjunction with Asset Recovery, review the share charge off report for accounts under the specified amount to validate charge off.
  • Process monthly loan charge offs.
  • Escalate unresolved issues with potential solutions to Manager/Supervisor for further investigation.
  • In conjunction with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), investigate and respond to all Fraud/Identity Theft disputes and respond via E-Oscar.
  • Ensure work area is clean, secure, and well maintained in accordance with AMHFCU's Clean Desk Policy.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable of all aspects of local, state and federal regulations that affect the credit union.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of current internal related policies and procedures, as well as all applicable federal regulations (FCRA) and credit industry standards (CDIA guidelines).
  • Generate response letters in accordance with the Fair Reporting Act
  • In conjunction with Asset Recovery, ensure all accounts involving forecloses and sheriff sales are accurately updated to report the credit bureaus.
  • Ability to confidently make independent decisions for appropriate action to be taken within regulatory and procedural guidelines.
  • Contact members, when appropriate, in a professional manner regarding credit bureau information and updates.
  • Assist management with research and gathering documentation on behalf of the Credit Union, when responding to all CEO Complaints, NCUA Complaints, CFPB Complaints, and lawsuits.
  • Assist management with data analysis and reports to identify any system or procedural updates necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with all reports and system updates relating to credit reporting errors
  • Work closely with all credit reporting agencies to process inquiry removals.
  • Process all internal ticket requests regarding all functions related to the Credit Dispute Department.
  • Remain active in the University Program of American Heritage Federal Credit Union and complete the position's present curriculum as outlined in the Online University by completing the following - Credit Union annual required compliance training, the Online University required coursework within assigned timeline, and the supplemental courses listed in the Online University Curriculum within the prescribed timeline.

  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • Knowledge of Metro II Reporting Guidelines
  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and related regulations.
  • Reasoning and problem-solving ability.
  • Intermediate Skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education:

  • Requires education equivalent to a four year high school diploma.

Work Hours:

  • Full time position, Monday - Friday 8:00a.m - 5:00p.m.
  • Occasional overtime and Saturday hours may be required.
