Managing Editor

The Physics Teacher, a publication from the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), is seeking an innovative and detailed-oriented Managing Editor. The Managing Editor plays an integral role as the position coordinates and supervises the processing of manuscripts for the journal, and actions of the Editorial team while collaborating across departments.
 

The Physics Teacher (TPT) publishes peer-reviewed papers on the teaching of introductory physics and on topics such as contemporary physics, applied physics, and the history of physics. Dedicated to strengthening the teaching of introductory physics at all levels, including secondary schools, colleges, and universities, TPT provides peer-reviewed content and materials to be used in classrooms and instructional laboratories.
 

Typical topics include innovative physics demonstrations, new ways of doing lab experiments, ideas for presenting difficult concepts more clearly, suggestions for implementing newer technology into teaching, giving historical insights that enrich the physics course, and implementing ideas for physics education research in the introductory physics classroom.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English or related field, as well as 3-5 years job-related experience in writing/editing for publication.
• Experience in copyediting, proofreading, and Adobe Acrobat software required, as well as proficiency with applying the principles of house and other style guides to scientific writing.
