The American Quarter Horse Association is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Director of Registration. This position will be based out of the international headquarters located in Amarillo, TX and cannot be performed remotely.
Ensure the department is prepared to provide beneficial service to our members which enhances and encourages American Quarter Horse ownership and participation, while recording and preserving the pedigrees of the American Quarter Horse. Determine and formulate policies and procedures, and provide direction of AQHA's production, processing, and customer service activities to facilitate the timely completion of customer requests. Assess, manage, and resolve problematic situations.
In collaboration with the registrar, establish departmental goals in alignment with organizational goals for immediate needs and long-term needs. Direct and coordinate the operations of production, processing, and customer service functions / activities of the organization to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness to which customer requests are completed.
Continuously analyze operations to develop strategies to increase productivity and improve operations. Monitor key performance indicators and goals and determine areas where improvement can be made to drive efficiency and effectiveness, or where policy change is recommended. Ensure company polices and AQHA rules are clearly communicated to staff and members.
Directly oversee the department managers and provide them with guidance for daily operations, recruiting, developing, and retaining employees, and provide them with the resources needed to support the department. Ensure employee training and development programs are designed to drive employee engagement and results.
Prepare budgets for approval, including those for funding or implementation of programs.
Review reports submitted by staff members to recommend approval or to suggest changes.
Appoint managers/supervisors and assign or delegate responsibilities to them.
Prepare and present reports concerning performance measures, activities, expenses, budgets, or other items affecting businesses or program services.
Implement corrective action plans to solve organizational or departmental problems.
Specific Knowledge:
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of AQHA rules.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, animal science or equivalent experience
5 years management and supervisory experience required
