Summary/Objective
The Graduate Communications Specialist will work with the Program Coordinator for the School of International Service’s Global Environmental Politics, International Development, and International Economic Relations graduate programs. The Graduate Communications Specialist will carry out communications, marketing, and event tasks. This includes developing biweekly newsletters, designing event promotional materials, and researching job opportunities for current students.
Essential Functions
- Draft biweekly newsletters for three SIS graduate program.
- Design event promotional materials.
- Assist with event logistics such as maintaining registration list, creating event webpage, and/or running technology for virtual events.
- Research and compile relevant professional development and employment opportunities for program students.
- As applicable, use social media to promote events and programs.
- As applicable, assist with marketing campaigns and website maintenance.
- Other duties as determined by the Program Team.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- 5 to 10 hours per week.
- 80-100% remote work.
- May require occasional evening in-person or virtual event attendance.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Graphic design skills are a plus.
- Experience with Canva, MailChimp, and Eventbrite are strongly preferred.
- Commitment to develop accessible materials for diverse graduate student body.

- Knowledge of career paths for International Development, International Economic Relations, and Global Environmental Policy graduate students.
