Summary/Objective
Essential Functions
- Compliance: Administer the University's leave program in accordance with University policies and procedures, and relevant DC and federal laws and regulations. Coordinate employee leave types such as sick leave, annual leave, short term medical leave, Family and Medical Leave (DC and federal), Parental Leave, long term disability, and DC Paid Family Leave. The Analyst will coordinate with the University’s Payroll department and vendors on leave administration and tracking using Excel and other systems/software as needed.
- Communication and Support: Advise employees and supervisors about University leave policies and procedures in accordance with relevant DC and federal laws and regulations. Assist employees in identifying their leave needs and understanding options and next steps. Demonstrate respect, professionalism, confidentiality, and sensitivity to employee circumstances. Manage a high volume of calls and email inquiries and provide accurate, professional, and timely responses to communications from internal and external contacts (e.g. AU departments, Payroll, DC OPFL, Prudential).
- Coordination with Payroll and Benefits: Provide Payroll with leave status of employees in a timely manner for payroll processing. Work with the Benefits Team to ensure benefits payments are processed for employees on unpaid leave. Accurately update leave codes in the HRIS system for payroll processing.
- Return-To-Work Process: Assist with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) process for employees returning to work from leave.
- Process Improvement: Provide innovative ideas that can support ongoing leave process improvement. Recommend revisions to University leave policies to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Full Time, 35 hours/week.

Salary Range
- $60,000 - $65,000, to commensurate with experience.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of relavant experience.
- Ability to prioritize and organize daily responsibilities to meet all deadlines.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with Payroll and HR Information Systems (HRIS).
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with leave administration support.
- Knowledge of DC and federal FMLA, ADA, and DC Sick and Safe laws, regulations and policies and the ability to apply them under limited supervision.

- Ability to exercise discretion, tact and diplomacy while interacting with students, faculty, university staff, management, internship employers and other stakeholders on confidential and/or sensitive matters.
- Required Microsoft Excel kills include the ability to enter and maintain data; use basic formulas such as SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT NUMBERS, MAX and MIN, add/delete rows of data, and the ability to sort/filter data and provide basic reports.
- Organizing and expressing thoughts and information orally in a clear, concise manner, meeting the requirements of the audience. Engages in active listening while seeking and accepting feedback in anon-defensive manner. Readily shares pertinent knowledge and information to co-workers and customers. Demonstrates effective listening skills and asks questions; offers input for positive results.
- Expressing oneself clearly and concisely, using language with precision; constructing logical arguments; accurate note taking, editing and summarizing; and writing reports or correspondence free of spelling and grammatical errors.
- Ability to review ones own and others work and information to ensure completeness and accuracy; carefully prepare for meetings and presentations; organize information or materials for others; follow up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled; set up procedures to ensure high quality of work.
- Skill using email, word processing, spreadsheet/ data analysis and presentation development software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint while preparing briefings, reports and presentations.
