Lead and manage the Database Administration team and oversee the operation and administration of the organizations data storage technologies. Help to develop a long-term strategy for data storage. Utilize strong problem solving and analytic skills to lead a team working primarily in an Agile environment.
This role will require someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Robust customer service (internal company partners) skills will be necessary, as will clear written and verbal communication skills.
What you do
- Utilize leadership and expertise in modern database administration and in the development of current or future data storage solutions, technologies, and services.
- Lead and mentor a team of database administrators to provide standard-driven, reliable, and scalable data storage technology services as well as customer focused project support
- Build cross-functional team partnerships and alliances with IT teams, Data Governance, Security, Project Managers and Business Partners
- Demonstrate proficiency in the development, ratification, and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Communicate technical concepts and solutions at a level appropriate for technical and non-technical audiences
- Provide thought leadership on operational excellence, technology road mapping, and service execution
- Identify, define, and assess the properties, specifications, and best practices necessary for database management system operations to meet current and future needs of the organization.
- Help to develop and implement policies and procedures related to data security and integrity.
- Develop, implement, and monitor database access policies.
- Ensure project and department milestones and goals are met on time and within budget.
- Manage software licenses and vendor relationships.
- Provides technical guidance and mentoring to project teams and cross-functional IT teams
- Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in DBMS and related technology.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new staff. Lead and oversee their daily work execution. Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations. Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Five or more years of related experience required in a combination of the following areas:
- Data storage technologies, controls, and standards
- Oracle Database and MS SQL Server RDBMS technologies
- Cloud data storage and data service technologies
- Advanced knowledge of command-line scripting, database languages such as T-SQL or PL/SQL, data engineering with open-source languages such as Python, and general familiarity with cloud-based data processing services on Azure or AWS
- Agile Kanban methodology skills for service delivery
- One or more years of supervisory or managerial experience desired
- Familiarity with the Oracle Exadata Cloud & Customer appliance desired
- Familiarity with DataCom mainframe database repository desired
- Data storage technology related certifications desired
- Agile SCRUM master certification desired

Salary range $94,254 to $150,808/year
