What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Lab Technician position at Amerlux?
Amerlux, a pioneer in the lighting industry for over 35 years, is seeking an R&D Lab Technician to join our R&D team in our Oakland, NJ office.
As the R&D Lab Technician you will be responsible for assisting in thermal testing for product development in our Thermal and Photometrics lab.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Associates or Technical degree preferred, but not required.
- Building and setting up light fixtures in thermal chambers with thermocouples for testing and data logging / reports.
- Assist in photometric testing in support of R&D product development, etc.
- Laboratory Maintenance: cataloging, shipping, receiving, tracking, documentation, sending equipment out for calibration and keeping the laboratory organized and clean.
- Other duties as deemed appropriate by Management.
Skills and Experiences Include:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to interface with engineering, purchasing, accounts payable, operations and outside test laboratories / vendors.
- Ability to follow lab procedures.
- Excellent drive and desire to learn. Ability to learn quickly and retain information.
- Technical ability, comfortable using basic tools.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Safety testing UL/CSA/ETL/TUV background preferred but not required.
- Lighting background is preferred but not required.
