Position Purpose
- Determine priorities for, assign and coordinate work schedules of maintenance personnel and outside contractors to ensure daily schedule is complete. Provide maximum production use for all working hours and machine time, maintaining company safety standards for all locations. Guide, motivate and evaluate performance of employees.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with general contractors for building preparation, coordination and installation of new equipment.
- Determine whether machine should be shut down due to serious technical problems and situations that may require working with engineering department to resolve. Authorize machine shut down as necessary.
- Develop employee work schedules by determining and setting priorities and determining the length of time needed for each job request, ensuring that priority job requests are promptly completed by re-assigning personnel, as needed. Assign appropriate employee to task and monitor progress. Advise other personnel affected by the shutdown.
- Ensure timely completion of job orders by advising Maintenance Supervisor of project status and recommending additional staffing and/or tooling. Review all department paperwork for accuracy of information recorded.
- Determine whether completed repairs conform to established quality standards.
- Involved directly with the interviewing of all future department personnel.
- Provide coaching, leadership, discipline and direction for personnel under the position holder’s responsibility, including the meaningful and timely review of performance, training and development and effective wage administration. Address complaints and grievances, directing more serious employee relations issues to the Maintenance/Facilities Manager.
- Act as a resource, resolve problems and answer questions from department employees concerning equipment and repairs by being familiar with company machines and equipment
- Meet with previous Lead, Shift Leader or Supervisor to be updated on status of work-in-process and new priorities for assigning work projects to current shift personnel.
- Maintain the highest level of safety and housekeeping throughout the area of responsibility so the health and welfare of personnel is protected.
- Administer first aid in the event of an employee accident or injury.
- Responsible for hazardous waste area and respond as needed for spills and fires.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned
- Carry out routine department operations by meeting regularly with the Maintenance Supervisor and keeping that person informed of critical departmental issues.
- Review job requests and determine cause of problems with parts and machines, and needed repairs prior to assigning appropriate employee to project.
