Micro-Poise Measurement Systems a business unit of AMETEK is searching for an experienced Buyer. Micro-Poise is a leading OEM supplier of capital test machinery to the worldwide automotive and tire industries located in Streetsboro, Ohio. Major responsibilities consist of MRP system analysis of inventory and purchasing data to purchase assigned commodity demand requirements for production materials and parts. Manage the supply chain to assure quality and on time delivery of components as well as total cost of ownership. Interface with planning, sales, service, engineering, production, finance and other departments as needed.

Essential Duties:

• Procure component parts and raw material from the approved supply base using established contracts or templates provided by divisional purchasing to negotiate supply of materials, services and parts for service and assembly.

• Responsible for the identification and development of suppliers and the sourcing process to ensure supply continuity and optimization for quality, cost and delivery.

• Evaluate and manage supply base based on total cost of ownership and cost reduction principles.

• Conduct competitive bidding by preparing RFQ’s and analyzing results to identify cost reduction opportunities and implement cost reduction programs.

• Analyze schedule requirements from the MRP system and place orders, expediting, re-scheduling or canceling as necessary.

• Evaluate product demand and create purchase or blanket orders to support assigned commodity demand requirements.

• Manage requirements for assigned commodity raw material, WIP and finished goods inventory levels as needed according to internal stocking policy to maintain customer satisfaction.

• Implement all engineering change orders in a timely manner and review and coordinate implementation of any new material or component specifications with engineering and the suppliers.

• Research current inventory, work in process, and open orders to ensure timely, cost effective implementations of engineering changes.

• Review routine demand and identify components which need to be stocked or stocking levels which need to be adjusted.

• Assure availability of component parts for service and parts by negotiating structuring and maintaining where appropriate VMI, Kanban, JIT or other supplier stocking agreements to meet lead time and inventory objectives.

• Maintain and monitor supplier delivery performance and initiate corrective actions where necessary to meet on-time delivery goals. Maintain the weekly expedite report.

• Procure obsolete or hard to find components from a variety of sources particularly in the electronics area

• Initiate disposal activities for excess inventory and take appropriate action to prevent additional excess.

• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.

  
  

Job Requirements:

• Three to five years of purchasing, sourcing, and supply chain management experience in a production or capital equipment assembly environment is required.

• College education BA/BS degree in Business or Engineering.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, business and negotiation skills are essential.

• Requires personable, self-motivated individual able to work in a team environment.

• Must have prior experience with MRP systems principles and operation, and be proficient in Microsoft Office, and Windows.

• Ability to lead projects and structure, implement Kanban, JIT and VMI agreements to support lean deployment activities.

• Experience in procurement of fabricated metal parts will be considered a plus.
