Position Overview
This position provides Human Resources support to the AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) Walingford, CT location and may also provide support for other locations in the business unit. The HR Generalist’s duties include ensuring compliance with applicable laws, company policies and procedures, drafting templates for HR documents, and working with the Segment HR Manager to oversee the hiring and onboarding of new employees.
Essential Responsibilities & Functions
- Guiding management on employee relations and performance management
- Responsible for full recruitment cycle, including sourcing, facilitating interviews, selection, and onboarding.
- Improving, implementing and administering human resources policies and procedures
- Implementing programs to improve the employee experience
- Payroll processing; Prepare payroll reports, garnishment, etc.
- Facilitate new hire benefits enrollments and annual open enrollment process.
- Ensure the training records are accurately maintained and all employees are current with their required training. Including retention, scanning & processing of all training records.
- Initial point of contact for employee relations matters
- Track the facility’s progressive discipline process.
- Maintain personnel records in compliance (physical and digital) with legal requirements and ensure all documents are filed in a timely manner.
- Manage various employee recognition and support programs: birthdays, service awards; employee appreciation, and employee events.
- Provide accurate HR metrics to Plant & HR Manager.
- Other duties as required.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of human resource experience
- Solid knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong time and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- A self-starter with the ability to thrive within a fast-paced, dynamic environment using emotional intelligence
- Highly organized, with keen attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively across functional groups
- Proficiency in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Payroll, staffing, records management, data entry, etc.
