Human Resources Generalist
Position Overview/Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will administer the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department to ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures as well as compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. The HR Generalist will maintain and develop effective internal procedures, handle employee-related issues with flexibility and compassion, support recruiting and retention efforts, and keep performance at peak levels by identifying problems, finding solutions, and nurturing job satisfaction. The HR Generalist will be a resource, a support, a partner and an advocate to the employees and the management/leadership team.
Responsibilities:
· Ensures that company policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance with state and federal legal requirements.
· Manages the maintenance and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies.
· Work with the leadership team to develop a collaborative work environment that will allow for constructive and positive input in the management and the operation of Amistad that is consistent with its mission.
· Create and maintains the employee contact database.
· Provides HR guidance and support to all departments and facilities.
· Willingness to learn, support, and understand the peer support principles.
· Supports the recruitment, interviewing, and selection process for new employees.
· Advise management in appropriate resolution of employee issues.
· Handles confidential matters with flexibility, compassion and discretion.
· Administer and executes routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
· Prepares offer letters, employee discipline forms, separation notices and conducts exit interview to assist with retention strategies.
· Plans and conducts new employee orientation and onboarding to foster the agency goals
· Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental, SIMPLE IRA, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, FMLA, and employee assistance.
· Supports the performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
· Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
· Coordinates training and development for the leadership and management team.
· Travel as needed to other locations.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Associate's degree in a related field; or two years’ experience in a related HR function; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Strong communication skills, writing skills, interpersonal skills, and ethical mindset.
· Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and federal and state laws.
· Ability to build strong relationships, trust, respect, and collaboration within the organization.
· Detail oriented with a mindset to handle the changing nature of the workforce.
· Adept at problem-solving and conflict resolution.
· Solid experience with computer systems including Microsoft Office Applications.
· Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
· Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
Physical Requirements:
§ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
§ Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
§ Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
