What are the responsibilities and job description for the OFFICE ASSISTANT position at AMPI?
AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:
- All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
- Maintain spread sheets for various job positions ensuring information is accurately and correctly input.
- Work with shipping clerical personnel to schedule appointments, create invoicing, bill of ladings, and pick slips. Fill in during high volumes and vacation relief.
- Work with finished goods clerical personnel to input items in JDE database system correctly and accurately ensuring product blends and pricing are done in a timely fashion. Completing billing releases, sales orders entry, product transfers, and item reclassifications. Fill in during high volumes and vacation relief.
- Complete required safety training in a timely fashion.
- Use computer systems to prepare a variety of reports, correspondence and miscellaneous tasks from rough draft or reports, ensuring on time, accurate documents.
- Maintain JDE database system inventories for inventory records, files and reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Enter plant production into computer systems daily and accurately.
- Process month end / year end inventories and reports.
- Assist in answering the phone, greeting all customers, suppliers and visitors and fill in during high volumes and vacation relief.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Associate degree in accounting or related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 1-3 years relevant work experience preferred/required.
