Job Summary:
The RN Manager of Med/Surg Oncology will oversee the daily operations of the Medical/Surgical Oncology unit at our facility in Wichita, KS. This position is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, managing nursing staff, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The RN Manager will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to implement best practices, promote patient safety, and ensure a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Staff Management: Provide leadership and direction to the Med/Surg Oncology nursing team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment.
- Patient Care Management: Oversee patient care activities to ensure high standards of quality and safety. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to plan and coordinate patient care.
- Quality Improvement: Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Monitor and analyze clinical data, identify areas for improvement, and lead efforts to achieve performance goals.
- Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the department budget. Monitor expenses and resource utilization to ensure cost-effective care delivery.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and accreditation standards. Conduct audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Education and Staff Development: Promote continuous learning and professional development among staff. Provide or arrange for ongoing education related to oncology care, nursing practices, and clinical competencies.
- Patient and Family Engagement: Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team. Address patient concerns and ensure a patient-centered approach to care.
- Collaboration: Work with other department managers and leaders to coordinate care, share resources, and support organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical leadership experience in Medical/Surgical or Oncology or PCU settings. Previous leadership or management experience required.
- Certification: Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
