Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary Network Engineer and Network SME in the organization.
  • Identify, solve, perform root cause analysis of all problems that arise with networks and communications.
  • Provide technical support to internal support groups during problem determination and resolution.
  • Provide Network and network security support to users and increase awareness.
  • Act as the primary contact for network information and collaboration as it relates to IT and OT networks.
  • Architect, engineer, monitor, test, and administer complex data networks with a focus on security.
  • Maintain existing software and hardware and upgrade or replace as needed.
  • Configuration management
  • Utilize trends and historical data to define comprehensive network and network security requirements that align with the organization's needs.
  • Continuously update job knowledge through awareness of emerging security and network practices and standards.
  • Maintaining up-to-date network and network security systems documentation including network diagrams and supporting network appliance configurations.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

 

Competencies/Skills Required

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of networking and network security architectures, encompassing both theoretical knowledge and practical application. This includes the ability to analyze, design, and implement robust network infrastructures and security frameworks, considering factors such as scalability, resilience, and data protection.
  • Demonstrate an exceptional grasp of modern IT infrastructures and integrations, displaying comprehensive knowledge of contemporary technologies, frameworks, and industry standards.
  • Exhibit a track record of successful architecting, engineering, and providing support for mission-critical network systems. Leverage your expertise to design resilient and scalable network architectures that meet the organization’s requirements for availability, performance, and security.
  • Expertise in eBGP, iBGP, static routing, and OSPF
  • Working knowledge of various networking protocols including vPC, STP, VLAN, VXLAN, VTEP, iSCSI, GRE, IPSEC, VPN, DSCP, DNS, DHCP, multicast, IPSLA, VRF, NetFlow, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, SNMP, SSL, AAA, RADIUS, 802.1x, and Network ACLs
  • Expert understanding of Network Quality of Service
  • Proficiency in network analysis tools such as Wireshark
  • Expert understanding of Next Generation Firewalls and all components (Palo Alto)
  • Expertise with SD-WAN (Cisco Viptela)
  • Expertise in remote access
  • Knowledge of Vulnerability Scanning (Qualys)
  • Experience with Endpoint Security, detection, and response (CrowdStrike)
  • Expertise in Wireless technologies (Meraki)
  • Expertise in Network Monitoring software (Solarwinds)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong decision-making abilities
  • Effective verbal, presentation, and active listening skills.
  • Proficient in written communication and documentation
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

 

Education/Experience Required

  • 4-year degree preferably in IT related field
  • 3-5 Years of progressive experience in Network and Network Security Engineering
  • Professional Certifications: Security , CCNP or higher

 

Work Schedule/Other

Anticipated hours are:

  • Monday – Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • 24 x 7 x 365 availability in area of expertise
  • Participate in on call rotation.
  • In office/Hybrid (not remote)
  • Compensation Range: $90 - $120,000 (Negotiable DOE)
