Press Operator
Open to 1st or2nd Shift
Pay Rate $24$29 / hr
Applies setup and operation of formingpresses to form sheet metal aircraft components as specified bywritten instructions and drawings.
Inspects completed work forconformance to specifications.
Functions andResponsibilities
Set up and operate formingpresses.
Perform forming operations such as bulgeforming axialload bulge forming hydroforming rubberpad formingsuperplastic forming punching coining sizing drawing and relatedsupport operations.
Identify tool wear ordamage.
Check required dimensions using calipersmicrometers height gauges and other inspection devices.
Follow written instructions and drawings.
Perform allwork in accordance with established standards and safetyprocedures.
Ensure proper documentation is entered onmanufacturing planning and paperless timecard system.
Promptly update information contained on press HistorySheets.
Train others on prior job experience.
Use company computer systems and tools
Improve processesand tools.
Work under direct oversight while in thelearning phase.
Demonstrates how to troubleshoot andsolve process problems such as backbuckling wrinkling or looserads.
Skills and Experience
Readsand understands router operations sketches blueprints andspecifications as necessary to perform the job function.
Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning andTolerancing (GD&T). Knows where to find this information atExotic and asks for help when necessary.
Must be able touse mathematics relevant to press operator functions.
Requires familiarity with machine tools precision instruments andgood manual dexterity.
WorkingConditions
Demonstrate proper and safe operation ofequipment and personal protective equipment including but notlimited to safety glasses / full face shield hearing protection heatreflective body garments and gloves as required.
Physical Requirements
The press operatorperforms physical activities that require considerable use of armsand legs and frequent movement of the whole body such as climbinglifting up to 50 pounds balancing and handling ofmaterial.
- The employee willperform these functions while maintaining a high standard ofquality and quantity. The duties will include but not be limited tothe following :
- Metal preparation andpriming
- Operation of Injection / CompressionPresses
- Material handling andstorage
- Trimming and deflashing of moldedcomponents
- Operation of ForkLift and PalletJack
- Processing of applicable paperwork and datareporting
- Participation in the Parker LeanSystem
- Other duties as required by theposition
- High School Diploma or GEDequivalent.
- Must demonstrate effective verbal andwritten communication skills.
- Must be able to lift up to40 lbs regularly and more than 40 lbs occasionally withassistance.
- Requires the use of generalmathematics.
- Requires the use of complicated drawingsspecifications charts tables and handbook
formulas.
Ability to work effectively with others and bea participative team player.
