Brief Overview:

The Vice President, Software Engineering will be responsible for the successful execution of the company’s business strategy through development, deployment, and customer success of all technical strategies at the direction of the CTO and in partnership with the Global Product Management and Marketing team. This is a key role on the team, responsible for the development of our products and services, and people management of engineers. Using an active and practical approach, this individual will direct all employees in the Engineering department to reach the company’s strategic goals. This requires envisioning the company’s service offerings, leading implementation of technologies, and planning for risk and growth. This role reports to the CTO.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Developing a technology roadmap for technology platforms, applications, partnerships and external relationships that is capable of scaling a high growth business, while also identifying potential areas of risk and meeting business and technology needs.
  • Implementing the strategy, technology, process and human capital capable of supporting a scalable, functional and reliable suite of products
  • Focusing on innovation, emerging technologies and making recommendations on the strategic use of technology to achieve business results. Providing visible leadership for the company to clients, partners, and investors, as well as to the greater technology community.
  • Anticipating and reacting to major technology changes to ensure the maintenance of company leadership in the highly competitive landscape.
  • Establishing technical standards processes and ensuring adherence to them for product development and company operations.
  • Ensuring that security is an integral part of information systems.
  • Working with the CTO and executive management to understand business drivers, market requirements and competitive issues that may impact departmental strategy. Assessing product development trade-offs, finding creative solutions to problems, and establishing and meeting delivery schedules.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience successfully leading globally distributed, cross-functional engineering organizations through transformation and growth.
  • Proven track record of executing strategy behind the design, development, delivery and management of cloud-based microservices platforms.
  • Strong business acumen, leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence all levels within an organization, most importantly at the senior executive level
  • Executive level oral and written communication skills with ability to understand technology sufficiently to clearly communicate the complexity in simple terms for key stakeholders
  • A visionary leader with the ability to lead and inspire engineering professionals to succeed in a fast changing and highly competitive market, keeping the team focused on breakthrough strategies and tactics to best leverage the resources of a growing company.
  • Experience leading teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong track record of delivering highly competitive (disruptive) products while meeting or exceeding revenue, margin and delivery commitments.
  • Experience developing and leading teams that drive to improve the end-to-end product development process.
