Description of Task to be Performed:
Responsible for effective provisioning via virtualized systems, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of virtual systems environment, and related virtualized infrastructure specific to FBI collection systems.
The Collection Virtualization Engineer shall also:
* Participate in technical R&D discussions/activities to enable continued innovation with the FBI's collection infrastructure;
* Lead the technical design and implementation of Virtualization technologies using VMWare, AWS, vand Azure to support IT mission requirements;
* Manage and maintain VMware virtualization environment consisting of on premise and cloud infrastructure;
* Perform maintenance, upgrades, and optimization of existing VMWare ESXi environment, Cisco HyperFlex Clusters, and Cisco UCS Management system;
* Ensure virtualized system and security health, perform related procedures, and adhere to organizational standards; and
* Be accountable for administration, security and deployment of virtualized desktop/server configuration;
* Integrate Virtualization technologies with Microsoft technologies (Windows Server and AD), and Linux technologies;
* Integrate COTS/GOTS products to support mission requirements at multiple security classifications;
* In coordination with the security team, identify and mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities, and implement controls to mitigate risks and maintain accreditation;
* Coordinate with and assist System Engineering team with deployments, inventory, updates, troubleshooting, policy planning and implementation, and user experience improvements;
* Create and maintain documentation of assets, design, procedures, and policies;
* Assist Network Operations Center with definitions of required ports and services for proper configuration and operation of VMWare environment
Required Qualifications:- Seven (7) or more years' virtualization architecture and implementation experience, consisting of designing, managing and maintaining an enterprise scale VMware virtualized environment using virtualization products such as vCenter/vSphere, ESXi, LifeCycle Manager;
- Two (2) or more years' virtualized desktop architecture design and deployment experience;
- Advanced knowledge/experience managing and maintaining virtualized server/workstation environment, AWS hybrid cloud and cloud-based storage platforms;
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study, or, at the discretion of the government PM, a combination of experience and comparable technical certification may be substituted for education
- VMware Certified Professional or Expert certification
- Knowledge of hyperconverged technologies, configurations, and tools (Cisco HyperFlex, Cisco UCS).
- Experience managing Active Directory, Group Policies, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Windows 10.
- Understanding of and experience implementing Microsoft PKI desired.
