Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for safety oversight of one (1) manufacturing facility and one (1) Distribution Center located in Lancaster, Ohio
- Develop and implement proactive safety plans and programs to provide for the safety and health of all site employees
- Drive an Injury Free Mindset across all site functions
- Communicate all incidents to the Site Director with incident info, root cause, corrective action, and follow up
- Drive Root Cause and hold management accountable to immediate corrective action
- Demonstrates ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business process
- Ensure compliance to all regulatory agencies – Federal, state and local
- Promote, communicate, and drive safety performance improvement through training, programs and policies
- Meet all Safety goals and objectives via Safety Systems and Key-Performance-Indicators Breakthrough Leadership in particular TIR
- Perform routine activities with minimum direction
- Results driven and focused on continuous improvement
- Works with HR to administer the Workers Compensation program to ensure reduction in frequency and severity of claims
- Demonstrates ability to identify problems that are beyond normal routine
- Demonstrates ability and desire to seek out opportunities and embrace new ideas and approaches
- Role model and champion of company’s values and principals
- Change agent of culture and processes generating a high performing operating team
- Creating positive and collaborative relationships with bargaining unit employees
- Supports other duties and projects as assigned by Site Director of Operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree/Associate degree in a related field with at least three (3) years of related safety experience, preferred.
- Certified in First Aid & CPR (or obtain in first 90 days)
- Ability to occasionally work irregular hours as needed
- Demonstrated practical experience in safety process improvement and statutory requirements
- Excellent computer skills including MS Office
- Demonstrated experience in Human Performance Improvement
- Experience interacting with local, state and federal regulatory agencies
- Ability to interpret and apply OSHA regulations on a practical basis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate successfully with multiple levels within an organization
- Demonstrated skills in the area of partnering with operational groups to develop and achieve strategic safety goals
- OSHA 30-hr accreditation preferred or willingness to obtain
- Must possess valid driver’s license
- BCSP or CIH certifications
- Prior glass manufacturing experience a plus
