As a member of the Assistant Leadership Committee, the Assistant Director of Engineering/Facilities is considered the department head of the engineering department and reports directly to the Director of Facilities.
The Assistant Director of Engineering/Facilities is responsible for the oversight of building maintenance operations throughout the resort including landscaping and water features. This person must be knowledgeable in HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical, Plumbing, Kitchen Equipment and Safety Training. The Assistant Director of Engineering/Facilities is to provide technical and administrative assistance to the property and deliver operational updates to the Director of Facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, implement and oversee preventative maintenance programs for guestrooms, public areas and safety systems
- Ensure prompt response and action to fulfill maintenance requests of both guests and colleagues
- Oversee all building mechanical systems to include building automation, energy and water management
- Thoroughly understand and monitor the resorts fire alarm system, emergency evacuation procedures and disaster recovery.
- Management of all Hyatt mandated programs (ie. Lock out Tag out, Legionella, Moisture Control, etc.)
- Assist with managing the execution of capital projects
- Manage parts and supplies inventory
- Focus on improving efficiency, profitability and service levels guiding colleagues to support and practice Hyatt’s culture of Care
- Recruit and develop Engineering colleagues while balancing operational needs of the department
Qualifications
Demonstrates the ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds
- Preferred college degree in Facility Maintenance, Certified Building Operator and/or a Licensed Trade
- At least 6 years of experience at a supervisory level or higher in hotel/resort maintenance
- Proficient in Occupational Health and Safety Standards
- Good knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, chilled and condenser water components, electric power distribution, plumbing and drainage systems
- Strong communication, organization, problem solving and computer skills
- Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
